Water Treatment Plant Operator

Job Description:  Responsible for the efficient and effective operations of the surface water and groundwater treatment plants.  Operator maintains appropriate local, state and federal report forms in accordance with rules and statutes.  They acquire water samples and conduct test procedures, as required, as well as, monitor and adjust control apparatus in accordance with appropriate procedures. Constant inspection of plant equipment and machinery is necessary so the operator can adjust as needed and perform necessary cleaning or maintenance tasks.  Ability to keep detailed records of tests and graph recording consumption is necessary.  Operator fills towers, backwashes, filters and controls the rate of water flow to and from treatment plants, as required by appropriate procedure.  The operator is responsible for responding to emergency calls and operates emergency generators at plants and pumping stations.  Must have the ability to investigate customer calls regarding water related problems 

Minimum Qualifications:  Requires knowledge of water treatment systems and operations equivalent to completion of a high school diploma along with advanced courses from a two-year college or technical school, and one to three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Current State of New Hampshire Water Works Operator Certification - Treatment Grade I with the ability to acquire a Grade II certification within 1 year. Valid NH Driver’s License required.
